Have you seen Camellia flowers before? I hadn’t until earlier today when I was googling David Austin roses and found this beautiful image. They are absolutely beautiful flowers, almost like ranunculus but with a lot fewer petals.. So of course I had to make one out of sugar 😉

I thought I’d stop by quickly to share this lace tree tutorial. I was inspired by the lace doilies I made earlier this year and wanted to make something similar with a winter-y twist. They are quite easy and quick to make and would be pretty as cupcake toppers or on top of a cake! For this tree I used a small, round piping tip but you can use any tips you like! I’ve been making flowers for almost two years now, but it has taken me until today to try gumpaste for the first time. I’ve always found it too expensive and thought that sugarpaste, at just a fourth of the price, worked just fine. But recently I’ve felt that the sugarpaste has limited my options and some ideas just haven’t worked because
What a journey this has been… Getting the camera to work with me, editing all those pieces of film, adding text, finding music.. The camera and I are good friends when it comes to photography, and I love photographing animals and nature! But when it came to filming it was determined to give me a hard time..
Ranunculus… I won’t say they are my favorite flowers, because even though I always feel like it as I’m looking at one, I love all other flowers as well. So to avoid saying in each post that I’ve made my favorite flower, let’s just settle for that I love flowers. Looking at them, photographing them, and making them.
This flower was so much fun to make! And compared to other flowers like peonies and gerbera daisies, it didn’t take much time either! I was inspired by the chrysanthemums in the kitchen window at home and tried to make as close a copy as I could, but unfortunately those flowers are now in the trash bin so I couldn’t take a photo of them together.. well, well.. 😉 Continue reading
