Hello everybody! Today I’m giving you the recipe for my very favorite chocolate mousse! It’s creamy, smooth, chocolate-y and just absolutely delicious. But I’m not gonna lie, it’s a bit tricky too. But well worth the effort! Just make sure to read the recipe carefully in advance so that you know all the steps, because you have to be pretty quick. But before looking at the recipe, let’s check out this cake, shall we?
This cake.. Where do I even begin to describe it? It’s probably the craziest, most over the top cake I’ve ever made! Rich chocolate cake filled with peanut butter frosting, topped with dark chocolate ganache and decorated with popcorn! Yes, popcorn! And did I mention the popcorns are covered in caramel? Crazy as it may sound, they were the perfect topping to this yummy cake. Continue reading
I made this cake a few weeks back for a boy turning 10. The parents wanted a Minecraft themed cake and so I made this square cake covered in lots and lots of little squares in green, blue and brown. Continue reading
This past weekend I had the pleasure of making a cake for a little boy who turned one. The mother wanted a zoo cake and asked if I was able to make a cake with some fondant animals on top. I’ve never tried it before and was excited to try! I ended up making an elephant, a lion and a giraffe. Continue reading
I’ve been wanting to try a ruffle cake for a long time now and finally got around to doing it! It was really a lot of fun and although a little time consuming, I enjoyed ever second of making it! 🙂 I painted the edges with gold luster dust mixed with vodka to highlight the ruffles and topped the cake with the chrysanthemum from earlier this week and a couple of roses made in the same way as the mini roses here. Here comes a bunch of photos! 🙂 Continue reading
This was such a fun cake to make. I usually worry so much about everything looking perfect that I’m rarely happy with the results since they are never perfect! All I can see are the imperfections and I regret making the decisions I made.. but that’s learning I suppose! 😉 With this cake though, I thought to myself that “it doesn’t have to be perfect” and it made such a difference! The plan I had for today was to make a marzipan covered cake. My fingers have been itching the past week to bake and decorate, but when I had finished baking the cake and was about to frost and cover it, I had absolutely no clue what to make! Zero inspiration. And since it was a small cake and it’s soo good when it’s fresh, I thought: why not eat it today and make a new one tomorrow?
It was about two weeks ago, when I stumbled upon some lovely small, white, square pots with succulents that I got the idea to make these cakes. I haven’t made any “figure cakes” before and have wanted to try succulents after my first and not entirely successful attempt, and this seemed the perfect opportunity for both these things! I made the flowers about a week ago and since I bought a new camera this weekend (I’m in love!) I’ve been too busy trying it out! But today I finally got around to baking! Since there are so many things to share about these cakes – three succulent tutorials, the inside of it and how to make the pots – I won’t be able to share everything today… So I thought I’d begin with the how-to for the pots in this post! Continue reading
When I posted the tutorial for hydrangeas a few weeks back, I also promised to show you how the cake I made them for would turn out. Well, as I was looking around CakeCentral I saw that particular cake was featured in an article there! I was very excited and honored and then realized I had forgotten to post it here… Well, to make amends, I thought I’d share a quick tutorial for how I made the quatrefoil pattern as well! Deal? 😉 Continue reading
